Read on to discover how we addressed critical problems ranging from water inundation during foundation work to soft soil and rocky sites, and resolved it efficiently with a combination of experience, expertise, and technology.

Case Study 01

Water Flooding/Inundation during Excavation and Foundation Works

In 15 of our projects in multiple locations such as JP Nagar, Dollars Colony, Haralur, and Mahalaxmi layout, we encountered groundwater issues due to good water table index. In some cases, the levels rose to as much as two feet placing the excavation and the foundation at risk of instability and inundation. This can turn into a real problem since the situation can lead to instability of the whole structure which may weaken and collapse – either in part or full.

As seasoned civil engineers, we at Aditya Builders deploy several construction techniques that can be used to control and safely manage the groundwater. This is firstly done by gathering information to understand the problem. Following a thorough site investigation, which might involve drilling and testing of boreholes, measurement of groundwater levels and tests to measure the permeability of the ground for water-bearing soil.

The team then confers on a workable technique to control groundwater some of our techniques include groundwater pumping/ dewatering (through an array of wells or sumps using sump pumping, well points, deep wells, and ejector wells) or Low permeability cut-off walls (steel sheet-piling, concrete diaphragm walls, concrete bored piles, and bentonite slurry walls) or Grout barriers (suspensions of cement in water).

Selection of suitable groundwater control measures is one of the key aspects of civil engineering and at Aditya Builders, we weigh in each and more of such approaches to groundwater control by its merits and demerits. We also consider variables based on soil or rock types. In sum, we ensure that every detail is well thought through in ensuring that we deliver to the very best of our ability without shortcuts or compromises.

We have also come across challenges like soft soil during the construction because the site has been on a river bed. With our experience and expertise, we handled such situations very well.

Study 03

During the construction at some of the places, we encountered the problem of the rocky area. We used the method of sand filling and effectively addressed it. Soil test is very important and mandatory before starting the construction on any site to determine the quality of soil to determine its ability to support the structure. We conduct soil tests before starting each of our projects.
